In 2011 Patrick van Karsen began his career at the Notarishuis Rotterdam as a trainee appraiser. Since then, he has worked as an appraiser for various national and international auction houses, such as Veilinghuis van Spengen in Hilversum and the Venduehuis der Notarissen in The Hague.

In 2020 he successfully passed the proficiency exam of the Federation TMV (Taxateurs, Makelaars en Veilinghouders van Roerende Zaken) and was included in the registry as a Certified Register Appraiser of Art, Antiques, and Household Goods.

Sinds 2023 is hij actief als onafhankelijk taxateur en verricht taxaties en bemiddeling voor diverse verzekeraars, taxatiebureaus, veilinghuizen, bedrijven, overheidsinstellingen en particuliere opdrachtgevers.
